MONTY: Wayne Stewart Monty, 70 of Uncasville, entered eternal life on Nov. 1, 2025, in the company of his loving wife Janice (Barber) Monty. He was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Fort Campbell, KY, the son of the late John and Ingeborg (Fernat) Monty. Mr. Monty graduated from Old Lyme High school and enlisted in the US Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Janice Barber on Aug. 15, 1987, in the Pequot Chapel. He Joined the New London Police Dept. in 1977, and retired after 28 years of service, as Master Patrol officer. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed fishing either salt or fresh water. Wayne was a big New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. In his retirement he and Janice traveled extensively throughout the US. Besides his beloved wife Janice of 38 years of devotion, he is survived by three children. Donna Morales of Stonington, Michelle Willer of Idaho, Michael Monty of GA and five grandchildren. A brother Douglas Monty of Manchester. Wayne was fond of animals, especially his two favorite furry friends, Spike and Munson. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday (Nov. 9) from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A 10 am funeral home service will take place on Monday (Nov 10) followed by internment in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
