Waterford - Thomas Edward “Tom” Ward, 85, of Waterford, entered eternal life June 5, 2026. He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in The Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Arthur and Peggy (Elliot) Dunn.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis, ”Bay of Pigs,” and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to the former Roseann Giuliano June 28, 1980, in Connecticut. Roseann died May 21, 2025. He was employed by CL&P retiring as chief electrician in 1999 after over 30 years.
He was an active parishioner of St. Paul Church, and a Eucharist Minister bringing Communion to people at home.
Tom and his late wife Roseann volunteered for Catholic Charity in the annual Bishop Golf Tournament. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seaside Council no. 17 and a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 36 in Waterford.
He is survived by seven children: Patricia Ward, Rosemary (Stuart) Taub, Kathleen and Susan Tonucci, Stephanie McNeil, Deborah (Fred) Buck and Robert (Amy) Ward; a brother, Shaun Dunn; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford, followed by military honors. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may go to St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or The Waterford Community Food Bank, 200 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT 06385. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Avenue, New London has been entrusted with his care.
