Sonny F. Pezzello

PEZZELLO: Sonny F. Pezzello, 86 of New London, entered eternal life on Oct. 19, 2025, in the company of his loving family. He was born April 20, 1939, in New London the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Baracco) Pezzello. He attended local schools and graduated from New London High School. He was united in marriage to the former Lucia Cristofaro, in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Mrs. Pezzello survives him.  Sonny and Lucia owned and operated Sonny Market on Jefferson Ave, opening in 1968.  Besides his beloved wife Lucia of 67 years, he is survived by four sons, Frank Pezzello of New London, Anthony Pezzello of Quaker Hill, James Pezzello of New London and Chris Pezzello of Groton. Fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and numerous niece and nephews. He was predeceased by eight siblings, Joseph, Ralph Sr. and James Pezzello, Mary Shabarak, Helen Mancini, Annie Picardi, Josephine Rocchetti and Jane Giulietti.  His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5pm to 8pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble on Saturday at 9am and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St., New London. Entombment in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum will follow.
