SCARPA: Nicholas Scarpa, 97 of New London entered eternal life on March 30, 2026. Nick was born on Shaw St. in New London the son of the late Gioacchino and Nannina (Laura) Scarpa, the youngest of seven children. Mr. Scarpa was a Navy veteran and later married the late former Rose (Galbo) Scarpa in Jan. of 1951, raising five children. He worked for Electric Boat, retiring after 35 years. He helped his wife Rose operate his brother in-law business, Onjo’s Luncheonette and later he helped sell plants at his son Gary business Colman Street Nursery. He is survived by three children, Ann Scarpa, Bruce and Matthew Scarpa, Sr. His grandchildren, Megan Baker, Natalie and Tandi Palmer, Mathhew scarpa, Jr. Four great grandchildren, Trenton, Declan, Adalynn and Jelani and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Rose and two sons Gary and John. Siblings, Peter, Angeline, Jack, Lillian, Alphonse and Louisa. Family and friends may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday (April 9) at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St., New London. Interment to follow in St. Mary cemetery. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London has been entrusted with his care.
