GIORDANO: Joseph Anthony Giordano, 88 of Waterford, entered eternal life on Dec. 13, 2024, in the company of his loving wife Connie (Bazzano) Giordano. He was born June 8, 1936, in New London, the son of the late Rosario and Lena (Muscarella) Giordano. He attended local schools in New London and earned a B.S. from Central Connecticut State University. He later served in the U.S. Army and earned a Masters and Sixth Year Certificate in Education and Administration from the University of Connecticut. He was united in marriage to the former Connie Bazzano on Aug. 12, 1961 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Torrington, CT. Mr. Giordano was a Special Education Teacher at Waterford High School where he also was a successful Football Coach. He retired as Assistant Principal at the Haddam-Killingworth High School in Higganum, CT. Upon retirement, Mr. Giordano was employed by Mohegan Sun Casino as a Gaming Inspector. Mr. Giordano was inducted to the New London High School Football Hall of Fame. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in New London. In addition to his beloved wife Connie of 63 years, he is survived by his brother James and his wife Patricia Giordano of Waterford; his four nieces, Anne Giordano, Jamie Giordano, Jill Bazzano and Karyn Garside; and two nephews, Paul Bazzano and Kirk Kripas. He was predeceased by two nieces, Lisa and Dina Giordano, and a sister, Angela Kripas. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Dec. 20, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Family and friends may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 149 Montauk Ave., New London. Interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
