John Nossek
Waterford — John V. Nossek, 91, of Waterford, entered eternal life Oct. 10, 2024, in the comfort of his loving family. He was born July 13, 1933, in New London, the son of the late Vivian John and Louisa (Camilucci) Nossek.
He attended local schools, graduating from Chapman Tech/New London High School. He continued his education at Boston University on a football scholarship, but left school to serve his country during the Korean War joining the U.S. Army. He married the former Patricia Cochrane Sept. 28, 1957, and after 65 years of devotion, Pat passed away in 2022.
John worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company for 36 years before retiring in 1991. He volunteered as a youth football coach for the former Waterford Tigers and coached little league baseball for Waterford South Little League and New London National Little League. John was a member of the Italian Dramatic Club where he enjoyed helping out with club dinners, the New London Elks, and a long time member at the Renegade gym where he made many friends. Most of all, John was a family man. For many years, he could be found alongside his wife Pat preparing dinners for their beloved grandchildren with a ballgame on in the background (depending on the season, always the Giants, Red Sox or Huskies).
John is survived by his son Ronald (Isabel) Nossek; daughter-in-law Carole Nossek; grandchildren: Benjamin (Brigid) Nossek, Jeffrey Nossek, Paige Nossek and Michael (fiancee Caitlin Cross) Nossek; sister Valerie Kelly; sisters-in-law, Lillian Nossek and Donna Cochrane; and brother-in-law Robert San Juan. John was predeceased by his oldest son Richard Nossek; brother Harry Nossek; brother-in-law James Kelly; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: George and Marian Cochrane, Johanna and Seth Wakeman, Donna San Juan, and Richard Cochrane.
