James Lewis Epps, Sr.

EPPS, SR.: James Lewis Epps, Sr., 89 of Waterford entered eternal life on April 27, 2025. He was born Feb. 17, 1936, in New London the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Tattoon) Epps, Sr.  Jim was raised in New London attending local schools and graduated from New London High School, class of 1955. During his time in high school, he was a 4-star athlete and letterman. He was a member of the New London High School Basketball New England Championship team during his sophomore year and was inducted in the New London Football Hall of Fame in 1990. Mr. Epps retired from the New London Police Dept. and worked at Electric Boat as a sheet metal supervisor. He later held the position as security supervisor at the former Millstone Power Plant and worked at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. He was an avid volunteer at the Neil Hoelck Basketball Tournament and received an award for his dedication. He is survived by his wife Maureen (Malloy) Epps of Waterford. His children, Patrick and wife Emily Epps of Waterford, James L. and wife Donna Epps, Jr. of FL, Marcia Epps-Gillen and husband Michael of GA. Five grandchildren, Taylor and Evvy Epps, Anthony, Michael and Alissa Malhoit. He was predeceased by his daughter and son in-law, Lisa and Stanley Binion. Three siblings, Louise Sebastion, Joseph Epps, Jr. and Kathleen Epps. All funeral services are private, the Impellitteri-Malia funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London has been entrusted with his care.
