Cosmo Salvatore Gentile

Waterford - Cosmo Salvatore Gentile, 93, of Waterford, entered eternal life April 24, 2025, in the company of his loving family. He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in New London, the son of Albert and Jennie (Mugavero) Gentile.

Cosmo was a graduate of Chapman Tech and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Coast Guard.

In August of 1962, he married the woman of his dreams, Mary Joan (Santangelo) Gentile. Cosmo and Mary had been married for 62 years. They have been waiting to be reunited since April 1, 2019.

He retired from Electric Boat after 37 years of employment. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and spent many days of his retirement driving Mary to her Ladies Guild activities. Since April of 2019, he barely missed a day where he did not visit her and say his prayers.

He is survived by his sons, Cosmo J. (DeAnne) Gentile of Rhode Island, and Albert Gentile of Waterford; daughter Maryelizabeth Tryon (Thomas) of Uncasville; grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Gentile; and sister Olympia Cole (Richard) of Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill.
