Charles "Charlie" Larkie Obituary

In Loving Memory of Charles "Charlie" Frank Larkie

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Frank Larkie, a man known for his deep compassion for others and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Born on March 14, 1951, in New London, Connecticut, Charlie was the third of six children born to Walter and Shirley Larkie.

Charlie was a proud member of the Easter Pequot Tribal Nation, where he served honorably as chairman of the Elder Committee for several years. He attended New London public schools, graduating from New London High School in 1969. During his senior year, he was a proud member of the undefeated New London High School football team that went on to win the state championship-a memory he cherished throughout his life.

Following graduation, Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years aboard the USS Kittiwake. After his military service, he began a long and dedicated career at Pfizer, working tirelessly on the production side. He retired as a supervisor in 2006 after decades of service.

Charlie is survived by his beloved son Charles Jr. and daughter-in-law Jessica, along with his cherished grandchildren Giana, Antonio, Dominic, Jadiel, Ayamarelis, Janai and his godson Isiah Sidberry. He was predeceased by his brothers Walter Jr., Richard, and Robert Larkie, and is survived by his siblings Shirley Butler and David Larkie, both of New London.

In his retirement, Charlie found joy in spending time with his grandchildren, his best friend Tim Cuff, and his loyal dog Nala. He shared his later years with his devoted life partner, Lorraine Thomas, with whom he made countless cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging at Backus Hospital.

A celebration of life and reception will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, on October 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
