Chad Gregory Pfieffer, 55, of Norwich, Connecticut, and formerly of Waterford, entered eternal life on November 8, 2025.
Chad was born on March 10, 1970, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Jimmy R. Pfieffer and the late Martha Ullom Pfieffer. He will be dearly remembered as a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle. Chad, who touched many lives with his warmth and friendship, lived an independent life with kindness and a deep personal faith.
He grew up in Waterford and graduated from Waterford High School, Class of 1990.
Chad was passionate about reading, especially the captivating works of author Stephen King. He also loved movies and concerts, and was a lifelong fan of the iconic rock group KISS. A perfect day for Chad often included his favorite meal, pizza, enjoyed with a soda and candy for dessert.
Chad is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Carrie Pfieffer of Tennessee; his sister, Brooke (Travis) Dallos of Virginia; his stepbrothers, William (Laura) Luna of Connecticut and Robert Luna of Nevada; and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the professionals and staff who cared for Chad with compassion and dedicated support. They especially wish to thank Dr. Jose de Dios and Nurse Tonia at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, who remained at his side in his final hours, for their devoted care; his social worker, Christina Roberto, and the many members of the SMHA team, especially Emily Pudza; the entire staff at his residence, Crestwood Manor, for their kindness and support; the entire staff and housemother, Doreen Conroy, at his previous residence, Haughton Cove Manor; and John Malia of Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, New London, CT, for his guidance and compassion.
A celebration of Chad’s life will be held at a later date.
