Carol Jean Shastany

SHASTANY: Carol Jean Shastany, 92 of Groton and formerly of New London, entered eternal life on April. 11, 2026. She was born Dec. 25, 1933, in New London the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Marshall) May. She attended local schools and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School.  Carol was united in marriage to Ernest F. Shastany on May 12, 1951, in St. Joseph Church. Ernest died Dec. 21, 2020.  She worked as a bank teller for many years at local banks in the area. She is survived by two children, Robert Shastany and husband David Saindon of FL. Sheree Shastany-Ursini of Groton and a grandson Michael Ursini of Waterford. She was predeceased by a sister and her husband, Dolores and Robert Mankowski. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday for 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Family and friends may gather for a graveside service on Thursday 11 am in St. Mary Cemetery. Donations in her memory to, American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd. Rockville, MD 20852-3914.
