Carol L. Dooley

Waterford - Carol L. Dooley, of Waterford, died on December 10, 2025, at L&M Hospital in New London. She was born on August 24, 1941, in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Malcolm and Emily (DeFreitas) Dias.

Ms. Dooley was born and raised in the Bronx N.Y., and received her RN from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan after graduating high school. After marrying Joseph F. Dooley Jr., also from the Bronx, and moving to Waterford, Ms. Dooley went on to obtain her BA from Eastern Connecticut State University and her MSW from the University of Connecticut. Ms. Dooley, a devote mother and grandmother, and always passionate about helping other, worked for years as a therapist at Backus Hospital in Norwich and in a private practice. She was an active participant at St. James Church in New London.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph F. Dooley III of Waterford, and Kenneth M. Dooley of Waterford, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Dooley of Waterford.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at St. James Church, 76 Federal St., New London. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London.
